Spotify hires Chaka Zulu for artist relations post

Spotify has hired Chaka Zulu as its new head of artist and talent relations. Zulu has been the manager of rapper Ludacris for many years and is co-founder of the Disturbing Tha Peace label. He shared the update in a post on Instagram.

“I am excited to share that I am joining the Spotify team as Head of Artist and Talent Relations,” he said. “With my background, expertise and passion for the music industry and artists, I look at this new position with Spotify as GROWTH, REPRESENTATION and SUPPORT for the artist community further building on what the team has done to foster strong relationships with creators. In my role, I will lead the strategy for how we interact with creators, identifying new and innovative ways to work together. I can’t wait to dive into what is sure to be an exciting ride with an amazing and talented team.”

Spotify has been working on building out tools for performers in its Spotify for Artists hub. Its creator services department was led by former artist manager Troy Carter, who departed the company last year. Having another leader with extensive artist experience on the team could help Spotify fill that gap.
