Spotify brings Stations app to U.S.

Spotify has launched a new standalone app in the United States. Stations is a lean-back listening experience with minimal user inputs. A listener just swipes and scrolls through the available playlist options, including Spotify discovery standards such as Discover Weekly, Release Radar, and Favorites. The app will personalize its selections as it learns from the user’s preferences. Stations will have a Pandora-style thumbs up/thumbs down system for listeners to guide the music selections. Free listeners will hear advertisements in their programming, while Spotify subscribers will not.

The Stations app made its first appearance on Android mobile devices in Australia in January 2018. In the U.S., it will be available on both iOS and Android devices.
