SoundCloud adds support for mobile uploads

SoundCloud introduced a new feature that allows users to upload tracks from their smartphones. This feature is rolling out for the audio platform’s iOS app, and it can support any audio file from the device. The upload menu is accessed from the arrow button at the top right of the app home screen.

The company noted that it would have an Android version of this feature coming soon.

SoundCloud has been expanding its mobile toolset for several months. Its app already supports track, Spotlight, and profile editing. The new on-the-go option for uploads is similar to the “democratic audio” approach championed by the latest iteration of Anchor, which was acquired by Spotify. Mobile has been a growing platform of consuming content, and more platforms are also making it possible for content to be created on that same hardware.
