Sonos to end support for several “legacy products”

Sonos announced that it will be ending updates and support for some of its older products. The company said in a blog post that it will no longer create software updates for several models that it launched before 2010. The company said that the lack of updates will limit the capabilities of those “legacy products,” but it also used the announcement to remind customers about its trade up program, which provides a 30% credit toward new purchases and recycles old hardware.

The legacy products include Sonos’s original Zone Players, Connect, and Connect:Amp. It also includes the first-generation Play:5, CR200, and Bridge devices. The System tab for a user’s Sonos account will alert device owners if any of their purchases will stop receiving updates.
