Samsung takes Milk Music down under

Music milk logo canvasAustralian owners of Samsung Galaxy mobile devices will now have access to the tech company’s Milk Music streaming service. The free, Slacker-powered app has about 150 radio stations and includes options for personalizing the listening experience.

Samsung isn’t the first phone-based streaming platform to enter the Aussie market. Last fall, Vodafone announced a deal that would bring Spotify trial subscriptions to some of its customers. Australia is also one of only two places outside of the U.S. where you can find Pandora (and more than 2 million people have). Streaming was generally successful in the land down under last year, doubling its revenue over 2013, and now accounting for more than 10% of the domestic music industy.
