Brief news items and worthy reads from around the web. Over the past several days, Spotify was at the center of some announcements, updates, and rumors. Here’s the roundup.

Resident Advisor takes up residence: Spotify entered a globalĀ deal with Resident Advisor, a community events platform and media operation. With this collaboration, listeners will see localized listings for concerts and events with artists they enjoy. It will also offer personalized email notifications based on listeners’ preferences. The companies said this deal would help boost ticket sales for indie promoters.

Real-time lyrics are the word: Spotify tests lots of features, and select users noticed real-time lyrics in the latest beta version. Even in the beta, the real-time lyrics aren’t available for all songs, and it’s unclear if or when the feature might get a broader rollout.

South Korea on the horizon? International expansion has been critical for all of the top performing streaming services. The latest industry scuttlebutt is that Spotify may make its move into South Korea this year. Reporting in news site Sports Chosun claimed that Spotify attempted to roll out in the country last year, but faced issues with licensing.
