Quick Hits: A music innovators list and a hi-res download store

Brief news items and worthy reads from around the web:

Most innovative companies in music: Fast Company released its list of the most innovative music companies to watch in 2015. Online music companies Spotify, Deezer, and Bop.fm made the list, along with RAIN News regulars Sonos and SFX.

Onkyo announces expansion: Onkyo is a Japanese online store for downloading hi-res music files and it’s coming to the U.S. The store is also pushing into the UK and Germany. It’s currently in beta, but it claims to have “hundreds of thousands” of tracks available at 24-bit 44.1kHz – 192kHz on top of millions at CD quality of 16-bit FLAC files. There’s been increased interest (and skepticism) of the existing crop of hifi music services, so it’ll be interesting to see how Onkyo stacks up.
