On the Move: In at streaming, out at labels

On the Move tracks hires, promotions, and other notable personnel changes within the online audio industry.

Spotify has hired a new leader for label relations. Rob Harvey is joining the company from Universal’s Republic Records to take on the role of head of label relations North America. In this capacity, he’ll be overseeing label interactions in both the U.S. and Canada. He’ll be a part of the team assembled under fellow new hire Troy Carter.

Apple has pulled away a top Universal exec for a role in the UK. Brian Rose departs his position as a managing director for Universal Music UK’s Commercial Division. Music Business Worldwide pieced together that Rose’s new role at Apple is likely as UK & Ireland Country Manager, Apple Music & iTunes; a position that the tech company was recently seeking to fill.

Even with the recent developments in ownership, Deezer is still building out its own team. It has hired Roman Tagoe for the newly created post of Head of Content and Editorial for Deezer UK & Ireland. He joins the streaming service from Tme Out London, where he was head of digital content. “He is joining us at a time of unprecedented growth in this market to help us define and enhance our offering across music, talk and live events,” said Christian Harris VP of Deezer for Northern Europe. “Roman brings a unique skill set to Deezer which will help differentiate our offering even further.”
