On the Move: Changes in the ranks at Deezer, Apple Music and NPR One

On the Move tracks hires, promotions, and other notable personnel changes within the online audio industry.

Riad Hawa has joined Deezer as vice president of the company’s global hardware partnerships division. “I am over the moon to be joining Deezer at a time when the music streaming market is ripe for change,” said Hawa. “This could come in the form of new innovation, building strategic partnerships with like-minded brands or investment in creative marketing strategies – the opportunities are endless.” Hawa previously worked at Spotify in a similar capacity of business development for hardware.

Apple Music has hired a long-time label exec for a role focused on original content. Scott Seviour most recently launched his own eponymous company, which produced music for a Discovery Channel series. Prior to that, he help multiple posts within Sony Music Entertainment, including ten years as senior vice president of artist development at RCA Music Group and executive vice president of marketing and artist development at Epic Records.

NPR One has had a changing of the guard. The weekly Hot Pod newsletter reported that managing editor Sara Sarasohn has left the broadcaster. Tamar Charney has reportedly been tapped to serve as the interim editorial lead.
