Mixcloud launches on Apple TV

Mixcloud Apple TV canvasMixcloud has launched on the Apple TV, making it one of the first music streaming apps to be available through the new living room entertainment device. Several video platforms were on the Apple TV at launch, but music had fewer representatives. Apple Music is, unsurprisingly, given a very visible position. YouTube and Vevo are also on the platform, but the other top streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, and SoundCloud have not arrived yet.

“We launched our Sonos app in beta earlier this year and Apple TV is the next part of our strategy to go big in the home,” co-founder Mat Clayton said.

Many streaming services have made their services available on other living room tech, such as set-top boxes and video game consoles. The Apple TV is positioned as more than a video supplier, with an additional emphasis on games. The big question is whether it will allow many rival music services to join the ecosystem.
