iHeartMedia to give shows broadcast time with Sunday Night Podcasts

iHeartMedia is continuing to expand its efforts to integrate podcasts with its radio programming. The latest part of the Podcast, Meet Broadcast campaign is a project called Sunday Night Podcasts. With this weekly series, iHeartMedia will air some of the most popular podcasts from its lineup on broadcast radio.

Sunday Night Podcasts will begin on August 11 with the first episode of season two of The Ron Burgundy Podcast. Other shows to air on Sunday nights include Stuff You Should Know, Ridiculous History, Atlanta Monster, and Stuff You Missed in History Class. Hundreds of iHeartMedia broadcast channels will air episodes of these shows from a range of genres, and exact air times will vary from station to station.

“We’re thrilled to bring some of the world’s best and most popular podcasts to our broadcast listeners every Sunday,” said Conal Byrne, president of the iHeartPodcast Network. “iHeartMedia reaches 91 percent of the U.S. population with just our broadcast radio stations alone, so we’re uniquely able to provide the scale critical to introducing podcasts to the millions of Americans who aren’t yet familiar with them. Research shows that more than two-thirds of the population still are not dedicated podcast listeners — many have never even heard a podcast before — and Sunday Night Podcasts will help introduce different audio series from a variety of genres to a whole new audience.”
