Guvera launches mobile streaming app in India

Guvera canvasAustralia-based Guvera announced its official mobile launch in India. The streaming service’s free app is available for iOS and Android listeners. “We plan to provide our Indian users with the best expert-curated local and international content,” founder Claes Loberg said. The app will include Bollywood music as well as songs by international artists.

The service is comparable to most other streaming platforms in library and look. It has mobile and desktop listening and a paid premium option for those who don’t want ads. The main distinguishing factor is the use of hashtags to describe tracks or artists.

India has an active music streaming scene, with several platforms available. Many of the Indian streaming networks do have licenses for Western music, but few international players have forayed into the market. Rdio is one of the bigger names after purchasing local service Dhingana this spring.
