Google brings family pricing to Play Music

google play free musicGoogle announced that it will open a family plan for Play Music. The new tier lets up to six people share a single subscription for just $14.99 a month. Each member gets their own account to store their music preferences and recommendations from Google’s algorithms. The family plan is slated to roll out later this year.

How does it stack up across the family plans from other streaming platforms? It’s the same as what Apple Music listeners get in terms of price and number of members, and that program has been proving successful thus far. Spotify ramps up the cost for each additional person, so $14.99 gets you two accounts, while four additional people will run $29.99 a month. Rdio uses a similar pricing scheme, with 50% discounts on each additional person who joins the main Unlimited tier.
