Google Assistant is now bilingual

Google Assistant has been updated with bilingual support, a change that means the voice platform can field queries from two different languages. Prior to the update, managing more than one tongue would have required manually switching between language settings. Now users can set two languages from the start and Google Assistant will be able to process inputs and provide answers in both of them.

At the feature’s launch, any pair of languages from English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese can be used with Google Assistant. More languages will be added in the coming months. The update will likely be a boon for bilingual households, but a blog post explaining some of the technology that powers Google Assistant points to an end goal of seamless multilingual support for the platform.
