Chris Peterson exits exec role at iHeartMedia

Chris Peterson is departing his role as executive vice president of podcasting for iHeartMedia. He joined the conglomerate in November 2016 to lead its podcast efforts and raise iHeart’s profile in that space. During his tenure Peterson created the iHeartPodcast Network.

In september iHeartMedia acquired Stuff Media, which runs the HowStuffWorks podcast network. At that time Conal Byrne, President and CEO of HowStuffWorks, became head of iHeart’s network. iHeart’s combined roster of shows has been expanding and the company now sits as the number-two podcast publisher in the monthly Podtrac charts.

Chris Peterson will be remaining in the podcast space. He plans to join Kindred Media (parent company LionTree, an investment house) as its new president, and will work on its Kindredcast podcast along with other responsibilities.
