Bose unveils portable smart speaker with multiple software control options

Bose has introduced a new smart speaker with multiple options for connectivity and voice controls. The Portable Home Speaker is a cylindrical design that is 7.5 inches tall with 360-degree sound and a handle for easy carrying. It can link to both wifi and Bluetooth, and it will support Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple’s AirPlay 2, and Spotify Connect. The Bose Portable Home Speaker is slated to be available on September 19 and will retail for $349.

The announcement scoops a similar portable speaker in the works at Sonos. The Sonos Move hasn’t been officially announced, but multiple leaks have detailed the expected features for the smart speaker that will be challenging Bose’s product. Both companies appear to be offering similar feature sets, and further establishing their reputations as top players as providers of software-agnostic smart speakers.
