Audion raises $1.2M for automated podcast monetization (France)

Audion, the French tech-oriented podcast monetization startup, is announcing today that it raised approximately $1.2-million (1.1M Euros). Founders Future, Kimo Venture and other angel investors are sourcing the money.

Audion was founded in 2018 by Kamel El Hadel and Arthur Larrey. The company allows podcast creators to monetize their shows via auto-injected commercials that target listeners according to geography and podcast content. The solution is described as “single click” for show owners.

Currently serving French podcast producers mainly, the injection of money will enable expansion to new  regions, Germany being a focus.

Audion’s press  release describes the French market as comprised of five-million monthly listeners. “Publishers were directly talking with advertisers to sponsor their content one by one and advertisers had to negotiate with each podcast publisher to promote their products,” the announcement reads. “Audion has created an automatized and personalized advertising model that matches the new way to consume audio content.”

“We are in a fast-growing sector, which should follow the growth observed in the United Kindom and the United States, where the podcast market will exceed $1-billion in 2021,” El Hadef noted, citing the most recent IAB podcast revenue projection.
