Apple Music loses an artist relations member

Dave Allen has stepped down from Apple Music’s artist relations team. The Gang of Four bassist spent three years with the streaming service, and was one of the artists involved at launch. He was with Beats Music before the company’s acquisition by Apple. In the artist relations team, Allen worked to spearhead partnerships with both artists and managers. He is departing to join Portland creative agency North Inc, where he will be Director of Artist and Music Industry Advocacy.

“I’ve spent more than two decades working in both the music and tech industry, and I want to use what I’ve learned to level the playing field for musicians by creating revenue streams that go directly to the artist,” Allen said. “I want brands to license music directly from artists that are as authentic as their brand.”
