Amazon makes another high-level hire, this time from BBC

Jason Carter canvasAmazon is continuing to expand the talent pool for its music team. The latest addition is Jason Carter, who will take over a director position for a new initiative at the company. Carter joins from the BBC, where most recently served as head of live music, international, and BBC Introducing.

Carter spearheaded the launch of the BBC Introducing platform in 2007 for discovery of undiscovered and unsigned artists. The project helped break now-popular artists including Florence and the Machine and The 1975.

The exact nature of Carter’s tasks at Amazon have not been detailed yet. Amazon announced the hire of Alex Luke to be global head of programming and content strategy earlier this week, and it seems likely that there will be more hires to support the ongoing rollout of Amazon Music Unlimited.
