7digital inks deals with Dubset and ACCESS

7digital has launched two new partnerships. First, it has made its first move into connected cars through a deal with ACCESS, a software provider for entertainment devices. Under the terms of their agreement. 7digital’s IP radio services and APIs will be pre-integrated with the Twine for Car automotive service platform from ACCESS. The integration will let drivers pause live streams, hear on-demand podcasts and tap into “listen again” programming.

“Digital entertainment services are offering consumers expertly curated entertainment experiences to enhance brand engagement,” said Dr. Neale Foster, ACCESS Europe CEO. “The radio industry needs to follow suit as it starts to embrace connected technologies. Through our partnership with 7digital, we’re putting radio back at the heart of in-car entertainment and fostering a platform for innovation ahead of the driverless car revolution.”

The second partnership is with Dubset, the rights management tech company specializing in remixes and DJ sets. 7digital will initially provide one year of access to its music platform to aid Dubset in improving its MixSCAN recognition technology.

“Technology has levelled the playing field when it comes to creating music and distributing it to a receptive audience,” 7digital’s outgoing CEO, Simon Cole, said. “This is a hugely exciting development, but it brings with it unique challenges. Dubset is growing a new marketplace for DJ sets and remixes, which represents a valuable revenue stream for rightsholders. We’re delighted to be using our platform to partner with Dubset and deliver value both to the music industry and to individual creators.”
