YouTube rolls out mobile live streaming

youtube square canvasYouTube has added live streaming to its mobile version. Creators with more than 10,000 subscribers can take advantage of this feature, although it will roll out to all users “soon.” In addition, YouTube is launching Super Chat, a tool for monetizing live streams. This allows viewers to purchase chat messages that are more likely to stand out to the host.

The video platform has had live-stream capabilities since 2011, but this is the first time its capability has been extended to mobile. Several startups have entered the live mobile video space, such as Periscope and Live.ly.
