Another audio creator is making a second leap to television. Night Vale Presents has carved out a niche in telling stories about the spooky and supernatural. Its Alice Isn’t Dead podcast was picked up in August by USA Network, and now FX is working with Sony Pictures Television to create a TV series based on the fictional radio show Welcome to Night Vale. The show’s creators, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, will work with Gennifer Hutchison of Better Call Saul as executive producers of the TV version.
The podcast-to-television leap has been an emerging trend this year. Several programs caught the eye of networks and video platforms. Based on the steady rise in popularity for the audio format, the trend will likely carry on into 2018.
