Audio solutions company buys iBiquity for $172 million

DTS announced that it will acquire iBiquity for a price of about $172 million. iBiquity is the exclusive developer and licensor of HD Radio technology, while DTS is a provider of high-definition audio solutions. Subaru makes HD receivers standard for all models

Today, iBiquity announced that car manufacturer Subaru will make HD radio receivers standard across its range of vehicles. Subaru cars with the technology are currently available at dealerships nationwide. The manufacturer joins Bentley, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Rolls Royce, Scion, Tesla, and Volvo in making HR receivers standard. Radio Disney programming joins HD radio thanks to iBiquity deal

Radio Disney has entered a partnership with iBiquity Digital to have its programming appear on up to 60 of its high-definition digital stations through the HD Radio Ad Network. Music rights organization BMI has entered a partnership with iBiquity, the developer of HD Radio. The two parties will launch a new program called the HD Radio Artist Spotlight, which is intended to help promote new artists and support established ones on tour.
