Spotify hires head of investor relations in latest step toward IPO

Paul VogelSpotify has hired a new exec as head of investor relations, the latest signal that an IPO is in the streaming service’s future. The new addition is Paul Vogel, who joins Spotify after most recently running Barclays’ Internet and media research group.

Although Spotify did confirm news of Vogel’s hiring, it has not provided any comment on the new leader. Put putting an investor relations exec into the mix joins the mounting evidence that Spotify is working toward an IPO. From its $1 billion debt offering in March to the industry interpretations of its 2015 financial results, Spotify is laying the foundation to go public.

There’s no projected timeline yet for when the IPO might happen. However, Daniel Ek has made one thing clear: he won’t be selling Spotify any time soon.
