Spotify enters deal with French telecom

spotify logo square canvasFrance’s Bouygues Telecom has partnered with Spotify to include its streaming music in higher-end mobile plans, according to Telecompaper. The network has 10 million subscribers. Neither party has commented on the deal thus far.

Several streaming services have been making forays into mobile partnerships in the French market. For example, Orange France has a tie-up with Deezer and SFR is partnered with Napster. In general, France has become an interesting market for musical conversations. Spotify is actually turning a profit in that nation, and the new mobile deal could further improve its financial state. The country was also actively discussing implementation of digital broadcast radio, but those have subsided in recent months.
