Sony adds iHeartRadio to PlayStation consoles

iheartradio canvasMany video game consoles are offering apps from streaming services, and iHeartRadio is the latest to join the music options on Sony’s hardware. The new native apps will give listeners access to their live radio, as well as custom and recommended stations. The apps are available on the PlayStation 3 and 4. According to an announcement at this year’s CES show, iHeartRadio will be rolling out on all of Sony’s living room entertainment devices, including its mobile devices and select televisions.

Although Sony has made some streaming platforms available on PlayStation, the console has a more involved deal with Spotify. The two are exclusive partners for a streaming service that replaces its in-house Music Unlimited program. More than 42 million hours of music have already been streamed in Spotify on the PS4 consoles alone.
