Brief news items and worthy reads from around the web:

Podcast preservation initiative: Jeremy Morris, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, founded an initiative aimed at podcast preservation. PodcastRE works to create archives of podcasts to help the audio format endure even if/when the current standard formats become obsolete. “We may be in a Golden Age of podcasts, but if we’re not making efforts to preserve and analyze these resources now, we’ll find ourselves in the same dilemma many radio, film or television historians now find themselves: writing, researching and thinking about a past they can’t fully see or hear,” the campaign website reads.

Interviews about NPR shaping the direction of podcasting’s future: AdExchanger sat down with Bryan Moffett, chief operating officer of National Public Media, and NPM President and CEO Gina Garrubbo to talk about about NPR’s work in shaping the course of podcasts.
