Pureplay of the Day: Laid Back Radio

laid back radio logoHappy Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Oh, and welcome back to work. Feeling exhausted after the long weekend? Or perhaps inspired by work as a refuge from the clamorous holiday season? Either way, Laid Back Radio is a great sonic prescription.

“Laid Back” doesn’t necessarily mean spacey, and certainly doesn’t in this pureplay station. This is chill with enough beat to get your blood moving. We were simultaneously soothed and motivated in our listening.

Best of all, this station offers remarkable music discovery. We were reaching for our favorite music-ID app again and again. In some cases the song could not be identified, a sure sign that we were listening to deeply knowledgeable music curation. Our first session started with one of those — “Startling Insight” by Azle Jazz, which we uncovered by referring to the Last Tracks page.

We also heard Odyssey, Willis Jackson, Da Lata, and a killer cover of “Ain’t No Sunshine” by the Bobby “Blue” Band.

The station puts a monthly Hotlist on Mixcloud for another slant on the station’s recommended music.
