PodcastOne adds AP partnership for sports shows and news

PodcastOne SportsNet is partnering with AP to provide listeners with reports from athletic events. The partnership will kick off with coverage of the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Several new shows will emerge from this partnership, and those programs will be available on both the AP’s and PodcastOne’s platforms. The deal promises real-time access to sports programming, and expands PodcastOne’s existing roster of shows centered on athletics and athletes.

RAIN News asked a PodcastOne rep how the “real-time” aspect of this deal would work. The spokesperson said that the outlets will have reporters on site for all major sporting events, including the upcoming Olympics, and will provide day-to-day news developments as they happen over the course of 2018.

“This will provide AP and PodcastOne subscribers with real-time, daily news reports, commentary and original content,” PodcastOne Chairman Norman Pattiz said. “It will provide additional power to the explosive growth of podcasting, while taking maximum advantage of the unmatched connection to listeners that podcasts already provide. AP Sports is everywhere with on-the-ground, first-hand coverage that will now be available via podcasts as never before.”

“We are excited to work with PodcastOne to bring AP’s unrivaled worldwide sports coverage to a new audience through on-demand digital audio programming — a growing medium,” said Anthony Brito, AP director for digital and commercial markets. “The expertise of our reporters and hosts, coupled with AP Sports content and PodcastOne’s vast network makes for a winning combination for sports fans everywhere.”
