NPR shares summer podcast lineup

NPR has unveiled its lineup of six new podcasts to debut over the summer. “We are expanding the range of our programming by giving a platform to new voices, sharing a fun new side of favorite contributors, and doubling down on immersive stories and journalism,” Vice President for Programming and Audience Development Anya Grundmann said. The new shows are:

Wow In The World – The podcast is aimed at children ages 5-12 and is the first program for that audience in NPR’s history. It covers topics in science, technology, discovery, and inventions. The hosts are NPR’s Guy Raz and Sirius XM’s Mindy Thomas.

Invisibilia – The third season of the popular podcast returns on June 1. Hosts Alix Spiegel and Hanna Rosin ask and try to answer questions about reality, assumptions, and perception.

Sam Sanders Project (working title) – Building on his work with the NPR Politics Podcast, Sanders is launching a new program. The podcast will feature conversations with journalists, newsmakers, and listeners covering news, popular culture, and the Internet. The twice-weekly show will debut the week of June 19; here’s a sample.

Live From The Poundstone Institute – Comedian and author Paula Poundstone hosts this new show with a live audience. It will premiere on July 8.

What’s Good With Stretch and Bobbito – This new show reunites the hip-hop radio DJ duo of Adrian “Stretch” Bartos and Robert “Bobbito” Garcia. During their radio careers, the pair helped break many superstar rap talents. Beginning with its premiere on July 19, the podcast will share stories about people working in art, music, politics, and sports.

Rough Translation – NPR international correspondent Gregory Warner leads this show. His travels range from Ukraine to Somalia to India. The show will launch some time in August.
