Shazam is expanding its brand and marketing tools, but the company hasn’t lost touch with its musical core. Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, who performs under the stage name Kygo, is using the audio recognition app to launch his debut album. Part of the launch will involve Gørvell-Dahll Shazaming tracks from the artists featured on his new work. The album, Cloud Nine, drops on May 9.
“Kygo is an artist who understands that Shazam is becoming an industry standard in launching a new album,” said Greg Glenday, Shazam’s chief revenue officer. “Shazam is becoming a great way for artists to connect with their very first fans,” Gørvell-Dahll said.
