RAIN News founding editor Kurt Hanson is in Milan for Radiodays Europe 2015. This is the third of his bulletins. See part 1 here. See part 2 here. Read about the “Stream Battle” here. Read highlights here.

As discussed previously here, I spent last Sunday through Tuesday (March 15-17) at Europe’s largest radio conference — a gathering of over 1,300 public broadcasters (e.g., the BBC, Radio France, Swedish Radio and Italy’s RAI), private broadcasters (including firms from across Europe and a smattering from America, Australia, and 16 Asian countries as well), and service providers that was held this year in Milan after previous successful events in Dublin, Berlin, and Barcelona.

Over 40 exhibitors participated, including such U.S.-based firms as Coleman Insights, Musicmaster, Orban, Triton Digital, Wide Orbit, and Wise Buddha (among others), established European players like EMIRAT, Radio Intelligence, and RCS Europe, and interesting younger firms and start-ups like AIM (All in Media), IMImobile, Omny, Radiojar, Spreaker, Tonio, and Vadio.

If you’re a regular reader of RAIN, you know that I’m a big believer, for those of us who are operating in the world of online radio, in international travel: Given that Internet delivery of radio allows global audiences — and that the vendors you use can be from anywhere around the world — I strongly believe that it makes sense to expand your horizons beyond the perimeter of your own continent.

It was announced in Radiodays’s closing session last week that next year’s Radiodays Europe will be in Paris, March 13-15, 2016.

The fourth-annual RAIN Summit Europe will take place this fall at a venue to be announced on RAIN News. Stay tuned!

Other great international opportunities coming up include Canadian Music Week (March 7-8 in Toronto), and Broadcast Asia 2015 (June 2-5 in Singapore).
