Two minor announcements about Google Play hit the headlines this morning. First, the company has opened up gifting subscriptions for Play Music in select markets. The new feature is available for customers in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, France, and Spain. Both new and existing customers can receive gifts, which can be bought in amounts of one, three, or six months. Existing customers will get the gifts as extensions to their ongoing plans.
The second development is an advertisement for the music service. Google released a 360-degree promotional video for the music platform. It’s an interactive experience that lets the user look around from a static point in the scene as action unfolds around them. The ad tells the story of a couple moving into their first home together, with taglines about music for “big moves” and “next chapters.”
