Facebook begins 2018 with yet more hires for its music team

Facebook is moving full steam ahead in expanding its music team. The social media company has added three more people to that department, continuing the extensive number of hires made during 2017.

Joe Bognanno is the new commercial music publishing partnerships manager, joining from a post in music content partnerships at Google. Leonard Chen was the director and head of platform and content partnerships for SoundHound; his new post at Facebook is in music product business development. Finally, Marion Koenig is the new music publishing business development manager for North America. Koenig’s previous role was for YouTube and Google Play as manager of music publishing partnerships in the EMEA region.

Facebook began 2017 with the hiring of Tamara Hrivnak as its head of music. It ended the year by landing a licensing deal with Universal Music Group. The social media network also debuted a collection of free music to be used as the soundtracks for member-created videos.
